I'm running into a problem where Vista will hard lock for no reason. The only way to recover is to power off (via power button) and reboot. Sometime it will lock after 1 min, sometime it will run for a hour. I'm running the basics... Office 2007, ect. Any ideas? About about 2 sec away from canning Vista.

Vista Locking
System specs? Overclocking? Any hacked drivers?

Check the Event Viewer for some ideas as to what is happening then post back.

I was using the nvidia drivers but rolled back to the Vista Default to test. Other than that everything is what Vistat installed.

I've looked but I'm not sure what to look for or where. Windows log? Application? System? the most recent error in system is DCOM The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID ) -- Monty

Start with System since that is what is locking up.

I diabled a bluetooth driver that was loading on startup and that seemed to do it. I was trying to setup a PAN earlier in the day and believe this is what caused the locking although I don't know for sure. Thanks All. -- Monty

I've had this same problem. I'm unable to track it down. Nothing is in event viewer that looks like it can be causing this. Anyone have any ideas of where else to look? I'm thinking it maybe some type of driver issue, but thats just a hunch.
BTW I'm running the x64 ver.
